859 miles riden by 14 chix to raise over $8,500!

What a season for ABCx!
We completed the Mamma Jamma ride on Saturday! all together 14 ABCxers rode 859 miles and raised over $8,500 for 11 local breast cancer organizations!
And we looked great doing it and had a blast!

Some quotes from facebook!

"I wanted to take this time to thank my wonderful friends, my team Austin Bike Chix and my AWESOME mom for being so supportive of me while I trained for my 70 mile ride. This was the most physically and mentally challenging goal I've ever set for myself. All of the phone calls/text messages on Friday and Saturday really touched my heart :-) If you donated, thank you a million times again for helping women in the Austin area who are currently battling breast cancer. If you haven't, don't fear! There is still time to give a donation, big or small. Please visit the Mamma Jamma Ride website and look up Austin Bike Chix to donate."--Theresa

"Ride was successful!! Just waiting for our team to arrive from their century ride. Next year, we'll be the ones riding in from the century! :)" --Georgian (so nice of the team to hang around until the century riders finished!)

"Having a great Mamma Jamma ride!! At the half-way point. BEAUTIFUL day!!" --Georgian

"a special thanks to those of you who donated your hard earned money to the mamma jamma ride. we raised over $300,000, which will help pay utility bills, car payments, mastectomy, chemo and much more for women in central texas. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! with love and appreciation, nancy."

"Back!!! 47 miles done :D :D" --Apple

"is addicted to road biking..and wish studying for MCAT was as fun as riding bikes.. Orz.." --Apple

"Special kudos to Kim Meyer and the Austin Bike Chix for their summer long work with new riders, and for creating a terrific and enthusiastic team. Kim, now you have some ride veterans to recruit even more new riders next year!!"--Bill Eby

ABCx continues to ride

With only 3 weekends left until the Mamma Jamma Ride, the  Austin Bike Chix have been logging many miles, even in this heat!

We completed a 56 mile loop in Luling & Lockhart, temop was 105 at the finish!
Other longer rides 35 & 56  in San Marcos and looking at 46 & 69 this weekend in Creedmoor.
Thankgoodness the temperatures have cooled down a bit, which makes riding more pleasant. We are all sporting our sexy bike tan lines from the summer!

Jerseys for the ride were ordered! Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to look for sponsors, note to self: next year must start 4 months early for spomsors & Jersey design.

ABC will continue to host these rides until Sept 27, so come train with us and join the Austin Bike Chix and ride with our team! [or at the very least make a donation! ;-)]

Unfortunate Miscommunication

First of all, thank you for showing up to the first ever Austin Bike Chix ride! I greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we get this bike group rolling!
I apologize for the miscommunication of where to meet, I was past the swimming pool and past the tennis courts down by the pond.(I also need to find a louder ringtone for my cell phone) That is where we will meet always since there is a loop where we can circle around and do drills.
For those who were with Elizabeth, thank you for your flexibility and willingness to help out, next ride on the 29th we will repeat some of the things I discussed with the group I had.

I just wanted to touch base with everyone, if you have any questions please feel free to email me at the address listed on the websites or at AustinBikeChix@hotmail.com

for a map of the route I had intended for tonight you can look here: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/29123322
If you haven't used Map My Ride, I highly recommend it. I will try within the next week to set all my maps to public.
